Alexis: You were born in Rio de Janeiro into a poor catholic household.  Your grandparents adopted you when you were just a toddler.  Tell us a little bit about your formative years in South America.  Did you ever get to know your parents?  How did your time growing up there shape you as a person?  When did you move to the United States?

Rio: I don’t remember very much about the time I lived in Brazil except that my mother was very poor and my father left her while she was still pregnant with me.  I was adopted by my grandparents when I was three years old and was very happy to go live with them.  My grandparents had also taken in a young boy and girl who were pretty much left on the street.  I was the youngest member of the family.  I resented my mother for many years growing up.  I think her actions gave me a fear of abandonment that was with me for much of my life.  However, I eventually came to terms with the past.  I moved to the U.S. at the age of four.

Alexis: When you arrived in Florida, what was your experience as an immigrant moving into this country?  Did you feel like a stranger in a strange land or did you adapt rather quickly?

Rio: I was very shy and withdrawn as a child.  It was hard, because although I was bilingual, my grandmother was not.  I had to talk for her at school, with friends, parents, etc.  It also made me uncomfortable that she was very strict and not accustomed to American ways.

Out of school, I was much more assertive.  I began modeling and acting when I was twelve years old.  But I also had a wild side.  I remember losing my license within the first six months of getting my car.  I drove a Trans Am and would race everyone I met on the street.  (Laughing)

Alexis: As a child, you were always interested in sex.  You mentioned that by the age of seven, you were already kissing and dry humping with other kids in your neighborhood.  Do you think you were born with a white-hot sex drive or were simply a product of your environment?  How did your family’s strict religious beliefs fit into all of this?

Rio: When I was five years old I used to flirt and kiss my boy cousin.  We never did anything serious, we were just playing around.  By the time I was dry humping with kids a few years later, it would get me very excited.  Still, I didn’t have any real experience until I was with my first love at fifteen.  I would perform oral sex for him and it wasn’t until the age of sixteen that I finally had intercourse.  I think my childhood interest in sex was normal and appropriate for my age.  Of course, because of my grandmother’s religious beliefs, I didn’t want her to know that I was experimenting with other kids.

Alexis: Like many of us, you had a difficult time fitting in during your high school years.  Luckily, you found love early in life.  Can you tell us a little bit about your first love?  Where you met?  Your first sexual experiences?

Rio: High school was a horrible time for me.  The girls at my school were all into their little cliques and would never let me in.  So, when it came to boys, I was out to prove something to all the people who didn’t think much of me.  I chose the most popular guy at a rivalry school to go out with.  I met him at the skating rink and, at first, he wasn’t my type.  But since all the other girls wanted him, I had to go after him.  He already had a girlfriend, which posed another challenge.  But that’s what I love - competition!  (Laughing)  He was very experienced sexually, and I wasn’t at all.  After going out with him for a couple months, we were still into heavy petting until, finally, one night he forced himself on me.  I’ve been enjoying myself ever since.

Alexis: After graduation, you attended college in Florida and then transferred to the University of Arizona; dropping out shortly thereafter?  What made you decide to move out to Arizona?  Why did you choose to drop out of school?  Was it hard living that far away from your friends and family?

Rio: I completed my first two years at the local community college and then decided to head out West.  I moved out to Arizona to get away from my parents and the control they had over me.  It was nice being on my own, without having my parents to tell me what to do all the time.  I started working on my degree in communications before I met my husband, TT (Tony 2-Toned).  We got married and I chose to drop out and work while he finished up his studies at the university.

Alexis: Speaking of TT, tell us how you met your husband?  Was it a whirlwind romance?

Rio: Yes, we pretty much got intimate right away.  I met him at a popular bar in town.  We moved in together shortly after.  Three years later, we decided to tie the knot.  I never thought it would last as long as it has.

Alexis: You are obviously a natural born entrepreneur.  You’ve owned a video store, cleaning company, and now your own adult website.  Was owning your own business something that you had always wanted to do or did you just fall into it?  What do you enjoy the most about working for yourself?  What do you hate about it?

Rio: Originally, my first love was acting.  When I finally gave up on that, I decided to enter the business world.  I love to be in control of what I’m doing and having the power to make my business fail or become successful.  It’s hard sometimes, knowing who you can trust and who is just out to screw you over (i.e. designers, advertisers, credit card processors, etc.)  I’ve had my share of bad experiences already.

Alexis: What was the impetus that got you and TT into the adult industry?  When did you launch your site?

Rio: My husband enjoyed looking at websites like ours and one day I said, “You know, I can do that too!”  We worked on it together and launched our site in of December 2002.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Alexis: Unlike many couples in this business, you and your husband are not swingers.  The two of you star in all of the content featured on your website.  Why do you think so many relationships in the adult business inevitably become open ones?  Do you think that the industry pushes them in that direction or do you think that they are, for the most part, swinging before they came in?

Rio: I think a lot of couples just get caught up in the whole sex scene and they lose track of who they were before they started.  I’m sure a lot of them were already swingers before they got into it, but I do also believe it is easy to get sucked in.  Whatever you decide, you have to do what your heart tells you to do and be honest with each other.

Alexis: Like many other adult amateurs, you seem to have a great relationship with the members of your site?  Do you have a lot of interaction with them?  What is the craziest request you’ve ever been given?

Rio: Yes, I talk to them everyday - I really enjoy socializing with the members of my site.  One guy asked me to wear white lingerie and masturbate while smoking.  Then someone was supposed to throw a pie in my face.  I’m not sure if it was a joke or not - but I didn’t find it very amusing!

Alexis: Traveling is one of your favorite pastimes.  If you could live anywhere in the world, and keep the same quality of life, where would it be?

Rio: I would live in Florida; it has everything I want out of life right now.  When I retire, I would live in the Caribbean overlooking the water.  But there is so much more traveling I would love to do before then.  I want to see England, France, Italy, and all the rest of Europe.

Alexis: What are your passions in life? What defines you as a person?

Rio: Well, my biggest passion is sex.  (Laughing)  Let’s see, what else…I love to exercise; spending time outdoors; going to the beach; and, of course, traveling.  I also love to read.  Newspapers, magazines, self-help books…oh, and I especially enjoy Playgirl magazine - I love looking at all the hot guys in there!  I think the best thing about me, as a person, is that I always keep my word.  I’m honest, sincere, and trustworthy; so I make a very good friend.

Alexis: You have said that the worst part about being in the adult industry is the stigma that goes along with it.  You talk about the many churchgoing, childrearing people that work hard in this business and that society is to blame for ostracizing them.  Why do you think that our culture publicly shuns this industry while spending billions of dollars a year to support it?  What suggestions would you give to anyone interested in working in this business?

Rio: Even though people are watching porn at home, they don’t want to be associated with this type of entertainment.  Most of the people who tune in are educated, middle-to-upper-class males - many of whom are married.  They don’t want anyone to know what they’re doing behind closed doors.  Women are also threatened by it; a lot of them don’t want their husbands looking at anything but them.  You have to really think before getting into this industry, and make sure that this is something that you really want; because there may be repercussions later on.

Alexis: This is where we end the interview with a sexual parody of James Lipton’s famous questionnaire.  Rio, what is your favorite sexual act?

Rio: I love the missionary position - I like to feel the weight and strength of my husband on top of me.

Alexis: What is your least favorite sexual act?

Rio: Probably anal - it’s hard to really get comfortable doing that.
