Alexis: Let’s start off by talking about your formative years.  Like many Generation X children, your parents divorced when you were quite young.  But unlike most kids, you went to live with your dad.  Can you tell us about your life growing up and how being the child of a poor single father influenced you?

Sammy4U: I went to live with my father a few years after the divorce.  When they first split up, me and my sisters both lived with my mom and only saw our dad on the weekends.  A few years later, when I was 12, I ran away from home.  My dad came and found me, so from then on out, I stayed with him.

Looking back at that part of my childhood, I get so many mixed emotions.  It was a very hard time for all of us and still affects my family’s dynamics to this very day.  My father wasn’t poor by choice. For a long time, he had a decent paying job working on the Railroad.  But he ended up getting sun cancer, could no longer work outside, and was forced to quit his job.  He went through some pretty intense evasive surgery, and fell into such a depression, that he really didn’t care about much.

I could have stayed at my mom’s house and grown up with everything most children have: a family car, TV, my own room, electricity.  But I stayed with my dad because I really loved him and he needed me. 

In hindsight, it didn’t really matter that we were poor.  We had a lot of love and we enjoyed each other’s company.  Instead of watching TV, we spent a lot of time playing cards and talking to each other.  I wouldn’t have given that up for all the riches in the world.

Alexis: You were only sixteen when your father passed away.  Shortly thereafter, you began your junior and senior years in the Dominican Republic.  During this time, you were constantly having disciplinary problems in school.  Do you think your adolescent indiscretions were actually cries for help or were you just a wild child from the get go?

Sammy4U: Of course I was calling out for help.  I needed a soft place to fall and didn’t have one.  On the other hand, I had always been in trouble at school.  It just got worse right before he died.  After he passed away, I had a real problem with trust issues, listening to authority, and I started developing a drug problem. 

I didn’t choose to study in the Dominican Republic by choice.  I was sent there by my mom and the drug rehab hospital I was in.  It was a very difficult time for me, but I made it through okay.

Alexis: After high school, you went through a bohemian period that many of us undergo in our late teens and early twenties.  You moved out West for awhile; worked as an oil wrestler in Arizona; studied massage therapy; and eventually settled down in North Carolina to work at a strip club.  Was a traditional college education ever in the game plan? What did you enjoy most about your experiences? Do you have any regrets from this time period?

Sammy4U: Actually, I did attend college; eight years of it!  I went for two years while I was living in Ohio and almost finished the program. But I lost interest, dropped out in the middle of the semester, and headed out to California.  When I moved to North Carolina, I went to college for another six years.  I studied human services, exercise science, marketing, art, paralegal, and massage therapy.  I finally did get my massage therapy degree, but I never practiced.

The thing I enjoyed most about this period is I did whatever I wanted to do.  I didn’t have any ties holding me down; I didn’t have anyone to answer to, and I truly was as free as I wanted to be.  I was making good money from dancing, so I could work when and where I wanted to. It was great.  I don’t have any regrets from that time and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Alexis: You met your husband, Brett, at the strip club you were working at in North Carolina and decided to move in with him on the same day.  You obviously must believe in love at first sight.  Is this something either one of you had rushed into before or did you immediately feel that this was somehow meant to be?

Sammy4U: When we first moved in together, it wasn’t like we were thinking we would end up married or even in a serious relationship.  We just wanted to have a good time.  We had a lot of really fun times together and everything was just one great big party.  But you know too much partying can also ruin a relationship, and that is exactly where we were headed.  Brett wanted a more stable life, and I didn’t, so we broke up for a few months.  Obviously we got back together and worked everything out.  Over the years, I have calmed down a lot and Brett has loosened up, so now we are the perfect couple.

Alexis: You and Brett obviously live a swinging lifestyle.  You mentioned in a previous interview, that you had been engaged in an open relationship before the two of you even met.  Have all of your relationships throughout your life been open?  When you first began swinging, was it your idea or your lovers at the time?  Was this something that Brett had done before?

Sammy4U: No, actually Brett was in a monogamous relationship; too bad for him his wife at the time wasn’t.  I think it has always just been my nature to be very open.  I believe people should do what they want to do and that philosophy continues into the bedroom as well.  I have never been in a relationship where both parties have stayed totally true to the other one.  I’m not sure if that type of relationship is even healthy; it seems a bit too restrictive to me.

Alexis: We all see people we would love to sleep with everyday, but, for those of us in monogamous relationships, we are forced to keep our sexual impulses at bay.  Swingers, on the other hand, live in the best of both worlds.  You get to have someone to come home to at night and keep fooling around.  Do you think jealousy is a natural human instinct?  If so, how do swingers slay that formidable green-eyed dragon?  If there anything that Brett could do that would make you jealous or vice versa?

Sammy4U: Sex is sex.  It is the most fun you can ever have and it should be looked at as such.  It’s almost like a recreational sport!  (Laughing)  So it doesn’t bother me when Brett looks at other girls or fucks them.  Hell, I’d do the same thing!  We sit around a bar and check out all the hotties together; it’s fun.  It would really hurt me, however, if I found out Brett was dating someone else.  If they were building an emotional relationship, I would be very upset.

Alexis: You’ve been working in the adult industry since 1993, and started your own website five years later.  This obviously isn’t something you take night classes on.  Whose idea was it to start the site?  How did you go about establishing yourself online?  Did you have a mentor to help show you the ropes?

Sammy4U: It was Brett’s idea to start the website.  I wasn’t into computers at the time, so Brett had to do everything.  He knew a little about computers because he worked with them in the Military, and had taken an html class at the local college.  Back then, it was a lot harder to get a site off the ground though.  There wasn’t as much information out there or people willing to help as there are now.  It was a hard slow road, but we have really come a long way since then, and plan to keep it going for a very long time.  I really love my site; even with all the hard work we have to put into it.

Alexis: As a porn star in your own right, you are in the enviable position to have your cake and eat it to.  Getting up and going to work is literally laying down in bed.  Does your sex life ever feel like you’re just clocking in?  Is the passion always there?

Sammy4U: The hardest times are when we are in a heated argument and, wouldn’t you know it, we have to do a camshow together!  (Laughing)  It is frustrating at first and hard to get into the mood, but you have to.  It’s kind of like going to the gym: you really don’t feel like going, but once you get there, you are so glad you did.  I don’t think we have ever still been in an argument after the show, so that is a good thing.

Sammy4U: I do have a lot of respect for what she has done with her career, but I don’t have any dreams of becoming a TV star myself.  Of course, at one time I did, but after being on a few sets I was cured of that obsession.  (Laughing)  I do love to be on TV and in the spotlight; I just prefer to be able to be myself while I am there.  I think it would be fun to do interviews or something that is more real than just being an actor.  I giggle too much when I try to act anyways.

Alexis: Speaking of being a television star, after reading several entries in your online diary, it sounds like you really love Reality TV. I find that interesting because, as a member of HouseCamz, your entire life is like one big Reality TV show; albeit a slightly smaller demographic. What is it about being on camera all the time that you find so fascinating? Why do you think the public enjoys it so much? Is it voyeurism? Escapism? What’s your take on our culture’s obsession with fame?

Sammy4U: I am really in love with Reality TV.  I guess because it is real people, put in outlandish situations and they are easy to relate to.  With my housecamz, I think they caught on so well because it is interesting to watch people just being themselves; even if they aren’t really doing anything interesting.  It is the thrill that you might just peek in at the right time and be able to catch someone doing something naughty.  It is definitely voyeurism and exhibitionism in perfect harmony.
